What Preps are you doing this week? Part 9
Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 9
filled both my car and van up this morning with diesel and will take the wifes car in the morning as i know her it will be on empty and she thinks "E" stands for enough and not empty and she is back to work monday after half term,im abit of a snob when it comes to fuel and will only ever use shell v-power(was once optimax)but noticed they had run out of that today so the cheaper shell fuel it was,picked up a few more hot water bottles from b&m's,there cheap enough at £2.99 each i think,finally next week when the wife is back at work and the kids in school,iv been signed off work for a further 4 weeks,so will make a start on sorting the veg patch out,as long as i take my time and dont go mad at it i should be ok,had two weeks of sitting around now since my scare and thats just not me,so take my time,nice and steady and i should be ok
Remember the rule of the 7 P's, proper planning and prepperation prevents piss poor performance...

I get paid on Monday and I *had* been planning on doing some serious top-up shopping, plus buying a 16kg bag of flour from the local baker. However, I had an email today from the letting agent saying they are due to come round for a property inspection, so I shall spend the next week buying storage and squirrelling stuff away so my house doesn't look too crazy. Plus I have to get out in the garden and get the old planters sorted, ready for the growing season, and do the damn weeding

Well I admit I had a mini panic today. So I had to get right onto Sainsbugs and put in a wee extra order. Of absolute essentials:
Custard
Tinned fruit
Flour ( for cakes)
Sprinkles (ditto)
Jelly (for trifle)
~~~~Sorted!
Bring it on Vladimir - I have PUDDING. CAKE & TRIFLE
I went to see if an old torch was needing a charge, it has a rechargeable battery and yup, I’ve lost the charger.
So I nipped to B&Q to see if I could identify the battery. Nope, nobody had a clue, it’s bigger than a AA or AAA.
It’s a ‘Tru torch’ and I was given it for free a while back, I have no idea where it was bought and I’ve been round Google with no success. Can anyone identify it please?
If you've got a local vape shop they'll have a charger or eBay
Yes that's the same as a vape battery. Check out your local vape shop
The BIL has given up vaping I've put a reserve on his batteries and chargers via my sister when he decides to bin it all
Put a picture in the power cut thread my new torch makes those batteries look small and I might have set fire to my trousers playing with it
Had an interesting drive around feed merchants, mills and agricultural stores this week for the Spring replenishment. No shortage of feed wheat, flour, animal feed or bedding. I did wonder about wheat given the Ukraine situation but the silos were still pretty full and miller didn't mention any extra demand.
The one thing that is interesting is propane & butane. The cylinder situation is bad worldwide and has been for a while, but now, you can't get new big cylinders anywhere (19kg or 47kg). Calor won't take on new customers nor will Flogas. Existing customers can buy cylinder for cylinder refills ( bring in your empty and exchange for a full in the same size) IF your local distributor has any ( Calor won't take online orders). For a long time those with bulk tanks haven't had an issue but now there's a three week wait to get bulk tanks filled. Of course the reality of this is that bulk tank users are keeping their tanks topped up regularly (or at least those on the "will call" system rather than smart meters) and any users with big empty cylinders are pulling them out and getting them filled (even if their empties aren't from their preferred supplier). I've not heard of anyone running out - but the cylinder situation seems serious for people who may only keep a couple of cylinders for cooking etc.
