Get the chickens, we really enjoyed ours, fresh eggs and lots of personalityjennyjj01 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:13 amYou folks all make it sound like pallet addiction is real. An addiction that some of you have escaped, but which I'm getting drawn into.
Thanks a bunch
Latest sub-plan. My back lawn is L shaped. I'm going to go 'Full Dowding' and plonk raised beds on a massive chunk of it. It's not as if the lawn is pretty or anything but a chore. Might as well be a source of food and exercise. So, instead of looking out of the kitchen window onto sad lawn, I'll look out on joyous food supplies.
If I ever mention getting chickens, shoot me.![]()

If at first you don't succeed, excessive force is usually the answer.

Ain’t nothin’ wrong with hens.I love ‘em. Lovely, gentle creatures that are a joy to keep. The eggs are a bonus. I keep rabbits too for meat and the pet trade, but… the main advantage with both hens and rabbits is the manure. I haven’t bought or brought muck in ,ever.jennyjj01 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:13 amYou folks all make it sound like pallet addiction is real. Water is a very underrated prep. Those Jerry cans sound the business.

Moving on from pallets
I have re filled the car with petrol - won't let it drop bellow half a tank atm with the current crisis. Filled the 5l plastic fuel can. I have a second one I can fill too. I am, also in regards to the current mess, topping up all supplies as costs will rise for things you might not expect. Air freight will be effected due to no fly zones. There is such a high level of unknown, even if buying a few more tins and bags of sugar, pasta and rice won't make much difference - from a mental health view, it will make anyone feel that they are doing something by sensibly stocking up.

I agree. In early March 2020 we were totally absorbed with my wife’s duel with cancer. Even though I saw panic buying at work,it never dawned on me that supermarkets would be stripped. Our youngest had left home in 2019 and we were running stores down to rotate them. We got caught out.PreppingPingu wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 5:39 pm Moving on from palletsI have re filled the car with petrol - won't let it drop bellow half a tank atm with the current crisis. Now,like you, I am keeping tabs on supplies.

Yeah, we're in the process of moving house. We've deliberately run down our tinned goods, alternative cooking fuels, diesel & petrol stocks so that we have less to move,
Still got plenty of dried goods, rat packs & enough fuel to cook for a while but it'd be a weird menu.

bought them from here www.preppersshop.co.uk do plan on getting a few more for the price,i think there the cheapest i can find on the web,my only grumble was the box they came in,had the shops name plastered all over it and lets the delivery driver know you are a prepper but not to worry
