How do they get their nutrition if there's no soil or compost? Do you liquid feed them?
I'm growing mine in a combination of plastic sacks and dustbins this year, in compost from last year's tomato growbags, but I'm going to earth them up using chicken poop and other compost and add some seaweed feed.

Yes i liquid feed them, have you ever tried an okd mattress stripped so there is just the springs and drop the spuds down the springs, it stops the cats, tyres are good toosmileyt wrote:How do they get their nutrition if there's no soil or compost? Do you liquid feed them?

No, the mattress is a new one to me! I have quite enough rubbish on my allotment without dragging old mattresses down there too
