Or a dehydrator. Yeah, its not the same but another work round. We generally cook with plenty fresh vegetables too but if you don't have it what's your alternatives ? I've got Kilner jars full of various veg including the bags of frozen mixed veg. Most of it hydrates quite well although I wouldn't risk it in a stir fry with the oil/water thing. I've got onions on the go at the moment and we bought a huge bag of cheap peppers too so some of them will be going on next.... then probably more onions.... the chilli plants are probably on the way out so they'll be next.... You get the idea, if you haven't considered it, have a look at some of the threads on here. I'm a big fan as you can probably tell.Jan Smits wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 4:12 pmSometimes. Part of my struggle is I eat a lot of fresh, and don't often know what's for dinner until I'm hungry. "Prep what you eat" is all very well, but I'd need a market garden, and space for a greenhouse. Right now I'm going the way of ready-made tinned meals. A lesson I learned was to buy one and try it before deciding to stock up. Then buying five or twenty-five might need another practical trial. Are you much of a cook normally ?
btw, anyone know where I can get 24 cases of long-life crisps?
What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.

I did look into those back when I had the allotment but decided they weren't going to do what I needed. That was then though.Or a dehydrator.
Not a bad idea. See, that's why I come here

I'll put my hand up, I'm quite evangelical about them. Cheap veg going out of date in the supermarket ??? Braw, straight in the dehydrator, stuff from the allotment ??? Braw....
I do whole meals to vac seal and take hill walking with me on it too. You can pick them up for 30 quid or there abouts too. Now I think about it, I've a single point of failure, I maybe need another one.
Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.
That's a lot less than I remember them being. Hmm...You can pick them up for 30 quid or there abouts too.
At that price, treat yourself, get two more

If I thought I could get away with the missus not noticing I probably would. I could justify one with Christmas money or the like, she's an unreasonable woman.
Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 5.
Picked up a new freezer today so at least we can stock up on a lot more frozen foods to add to stocks - we might actually be able to store more days worth of food for us than we do for the dog for once!

For fellow stockpilers of food ( fellow loonies, some might say )
Well, I've been reviewing my grocery stockpile and discovered that though I had 6 months stash of tea and coffee, I'd only about a weeks worth of milk!!! Pah!
So, I've been researching powdered milk options, I'd started to settle on a stash of 300g satchets from Sainsburys at £1.65 but hadn't got round to buying any yet.
But really fortuitously, today I stumbled on Nida 900g TINS of dried WHOLE FAT milk in ASDA reduced to £5.50*
http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/ocado-co ... _900g.html
That compares to some crazy high prices on amazon where the going rate is £9 - £13 a tin! Also much cheaper than Marvel.
So, my mission for tomorrow** is to buy a LOT of tins either from ASDA at £5.50 or Tesco at £6.00 with use of my stash of clubcard vouchers.
*Slighty dearer than the Sainsbury skimmed milk, but that comes in satchets and would be rodent vulnerable
**Couldn't buy it with the other half with me.

Invested in a 3l water mist extinguisher for home having used a larger 6l on a oil soaked dust covered motor and it knocked the fire out in seconds using less than 1/3rd the contents

I have some dried milk but UHT is hand and keeps a while. Depending on what you're looking for its worth keeping some even if you don't end up using it, its not that expensive. Its one of the few things I prep that more often than not I'll end up ditching.jennyjj01 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 29, 2018 7:29 pm For fellow stockpilers of food ( fellow loonies, some might say )
