Can anyone point me in the direction of Long Term Storage food available in the UK?
Most google results are US based :(

Thanks!

Ouch, £144 for a month of Mountain House!
I wasn't expecting the costs to be so high..... is that comparable to the prices they pay in the US?
For that sort of cost I would consider Army-surplus rat packs....

Are there any UK sourced alternatives, rather than imported options?

just a quick calculation, but it would be around $130 for 4 #10 cans. Dependant on the cans you choose.

That does seem to make it significantly more expensive in the UK then (Just under £81!!!)
I appreciate there will be import and shipping costs from the US and everybody has to make a profit, but it does seem to make it prohibitively expensive (in my opinion)

A UK made solution would be perfect.....

Hi Blue

The cost of these type of things in the UK has always put me off which is why I am in the process of going down the Rice/Grain route mixed with ordinary "basics" tins etc. A 25kg bag of Rice can be bought for under £16 and can provide over 100 days worth of meals for one person. You would need to mix it with other stuff to make it palatable but as a staple food, value for money and ease of storage it is hard to beat....helps if you like Rice though :D

Same here, can't afford that stuff, you can find alternatives cheaply here. Also a dehydrator (which I haven't got yet but want) and a garden !

conserva.de are the cheapest I reckon. Mylaring white rice, lentils could give you 8+ years shelf life. TVP much longer! I decided to go for a selection of dehydrated, tinned, mylar, MREs and food growing in the ground.

Couscous is also very good - and versatile - and cheap!

I agree with eveyone else - its too expensive for what you get - works out bout £4 a meal when you can get 4 x that on dried food, and you can source your own organic stuff and know exactly what your eating - once I learnt about mylar bags and oxugen absorbers, its gonna last like ten years plus as long as its dry stuff...
