The only thing stocked up in my house are Tic Tacs...
Anyone else finding it increasingly difficult to convince family members to start prepping and stop wasting?

Oh yes - with four children, extra stocks of anything are just an excuse to pig out. That's why you have to be *really* inventive with your hiding, um, storage places ("But Mom, there's tons of popcorn, can't we have a third bowl whilst watching Ice Age for the ninth time?). DH just rolls his eyes at the two six-packs of coconut milk I picked up at a good price, but then asks for thai curry twice in one week...
Oddly enough, my eleven year old is the only one who actually seems to 'get it'. They've been doing a lot about Japan at school though and it's opened her eyes quite dramatically.

All I would say is don't nag them too much else they will just ignore you even more. Just drop things into conversation every now and then when something is on the news. Things like when people caught in the snow during the winter, or like down this way in Okehampton where people are using food banks after losing their jobs.
At the end of the day you can't make people prep so don't keep going on at them, just give them a few gentle nudges in the right direction, it worked on MrsCC to a certain extent.
You then get different problems even if they are onboard. MrsCC has been giving me stick for the last week since she rang me at work at about 8pm to ask where I had hidden the spare lightbulbs, only to find we had run out of a particular type. Her comments have been along the lines of "so you have a flipping genny, loads of flipping water, flipping food everywhere, flipping junk all over the house....but you forgot to store the flipping right flipping lightbulbs"
"flipping" wasn't the exact word used

Guilty!
I must admit that the stockpile is often seen as the midnight snack shop.
Not really a problem if you replace it and rotate properly. We usually end up pigging out on things that are going out of date.

I really must get OH to find a better hiding place for the sweeties and chocolate. He's not very good at it. Going to have to be more inventive

There is no hiding for sweeties and choccies that I couldnt find, eventually
If need be I'd demolish the house brick by brick !

The chocolate fairy visits my house often as well, usually after I have gone too bed. Even when I play hide and seek with the elusive delicacy the blessed creature finds it and scoffs the lot and leaves the empty wrapper as a thank you.

I have been known to nibble on....(eek, guilty secret time now....) cooking chocolate, when I have been unable to afford or get to real chocolate, despite knowing I`d feel sick after it.
