What are you planning to grow 2016.
Re: What are you planning to grow 2016.
Well we had snow here this evening,
not impressed at all, I want to get my courgettes, cauliflowers and pumpkins out! I'm running out of room for my seedlings, the mogsplosh is starting to look for ways of pushing them off the windowsills and the pumpkins are about to flower! Eek!

After all the hype, I haven't dug a square inch of soil, sown a single seed or planted a tuber. Couldn't see the point when a forced move is on the cards and I won't be here in a couple of months.
Looking on the bright side, it's giving me chance to sort everything out.

Oh that sounds horrible, I hope the next place is better Brambles.
Good idea to have a sort out though, you may find some treasures!

We are in the process. Have decided to use money stash as a deposit and relocate to an affordable area to buy. Stores are being used to keep costs down. Just goes to show real life is more likely to need preps than TEOTWAWKI

Good luck with it Brambles, buying, while maybe daunting is the way ahead long term, at least at some point you'll stop paying.Brambles wrote:We are in the process. BLOODY SLUGS!!
Have hammered my squash. I'm more annoyed at myself for not putting coffee grounds, pellets and beer traps down, all of which I had available.
I noticed that slugs will eat a stalk to make a big leaf fall so that they can then eat the leaf. Smarter than I thought. Didn't stop me cutting them up with the knife though.
Bloody things.

Yep, they've eaten three tomato plants so we bought these weird pots with a moat round them to keep the slugs and snails off and so far so good! Courgettes went overnight despite slug pellets and pumpkins just about hanging in there.

I don't know if people have tried this already but a friend told me to save a cherry tomato, slice it up, place it in a pot full of compost, lightly cover and keep watered and in the sun. I did this two weeks ago and I now have seedlings starting to grow. Only time will tell if I get any yield of decent cherry tomatoes or not.
