Help me choose my new BOV

I'm just looking at the same type of trucks , the ford ranger is leading for me at the moment drove much better than the Amarok imo, it also has better rear seats for family duties a new model is out in January with what looks to be a much better Satnav/ entertainment system. I could be wrong but one of the things I'd read about the amarok which had stuck with me is the selectable 4x4 will not engage whilst towing seems utterly mental to me but I've read it a couple of times in different places. Also worth considering is the new Nissan navara is released in December apparently too.

A Nissan Pathfinder is my recommendation. Mine is way better than the Freelander I used to have. Also you have no need for a canopy for the load bed. You only lose 500kg towing capacity over the pickup trucks, plus it's a proven 4x4 that in my opinion knocks spots off the VW, which is more of a fashion statement as opposed to a vehicle with capabilities.

I've got a pathfinder now and they've been great but I've had one for the past 10 years I own 2 one 10 years old and one 5 years old now had both from new and the only money spent besides normal servicing is a clutch on the 10 year old one at 145k miles and new batteries on both at 5 years just in case. To be honest I just fancy a change now purely because I've been driving one or the other for 10 years and could do with the extra boot space a pickup offers. Don't let the amarok fool you I've seen it off-road and it's surprisingly capable with nothing more than a decent set of tyres I didn't expect much and it really surprised me just how good it was that auto box coupled with their 4wd system is astounding before I witnessed it I wouldn't have believed it. Having said that the ranger is the better drive in my opinion.

So after placing my order last Monday my new BOV arrived yesterday fresh off the line.



Specification:

2015 VW Amarok
2 litre twin turbo diesel
183 bhp
Selectable 4wd with low range
Payload of over 1 tonne in the bed

My plans for this really are to just leave the external as it is but kit out the inside with everyday shtf essentials. So far I've decided on:

Knife
Catapult with ammo
5no. Emergency blankets
Fire extinguisher
Basic hand tools

Spare bulbs
Folding Shovel
Snacks
Change of clothing
Torch
