Emergency apple (?!!)

Post by Mr R »

I have been reading a book about walks on Dartmoor and, like any good walker, I paid particular attention to the section titled 'Walking Safely'. As you can imagine, it contains the standard advice for walking on any moors, but also has the following comment:

"It is wise to carry an emergency pack of chocolate and apples if a long walk is planned."

Why apples? Do they have some energy giving properties that no one has told me about before?

You might find an attractive teacher, you could then 'give it to her'. :o

I would rather 2 large bars of Kendal mint cake and a bottle of water. Even better a 24 Hour army ration pack and a bottle of water, apples my arse!

I have found that apples can make me more alert and improve my reactions when tired, without the caffeine psychosis you get from one too many coffees. Particularly good late at night when for instance driving. I'll take a couple with me on a long journey.

But no idea whether this is relevant for walking on Dartmoor...
