Sainsbury's

Post by itsybitsy »

Sainsbury's have discontinued the Barts Spice range (at least they have where I live!). The majority of the range is now reduced from anwhere between £1.60-£2.50 to around 45p! So last night I popped in and wiped them out of Cajun, Creole, Garlic Granules, Bay Leaves, Madras Powder and Cayene Pepper. Got 20 jars. All good dates - around the middle of 2013, but they will last much longer than that, especially if they haven't been opened. So now I've got something to flavour the 200kg of rice (that I haven't bought yet) which I will need to feed myself for a year if the SHTF!

I've got my eye on the cinammon sticks and the whole black peppercorsn in the grinder, but they are still well over a quid...will wait until they knock 'em down again and I'll swoop in!

That's a shame. Try Sainsbury's Local if you have one. Perhaps they only discontinue specific lines/ranges in shops where they don't sell well? I've gotten loads of bargains in the past few weeks in my Sainsbury's Local - unfortunately they seem to be replacing all the good stuff with cheap crap. Sign of the times, eh?

Sneer away DL, I didn't see one in your village last time I looked ;)

We have one in walking distance, plus two Tesco, one Morrisons, Asda, Co-op, Aldi, Lidl but we do only have a small Somerfield
