Hey all I'm a brit living in the deep south of the US. I thought i'd join up on here.
I've been prepping since November 2010. From what I've heard from family and friends the UK has been affected as bad as it is in the US. The mainstream media are not covering what is really going on.
Every day i'll hear a story about someone that knows someone who lost their job or business.
There are loads of businesses here that have shut down since 08. So as you can guess i''m preparing for a total economic collapse.
I'm not sure if you lot follow the US news but the shit is going to hit the fan more than likely this year with the debt spiraling out of control.

Hello and welcome. It will be good to have a US perspective on prepping. I keep a close eye on what's happening over the pond and am looking forward to some interesting and informative posts from you. No pressure then...

Cheers people. I guess prepping is not a mainstream thing, in fact its not at all. I guess it is as taboo as it is in the UK. Gun ownership and hunting is the big thing here. A lot of US preppers are orientated towards the "patriot movement" some are geared towards the "NWO" while others like me are prepping for a total economic collapse.
I forgot to mention some US preppers are hardcore Christians, to the locals here it is not considered hardcore at all but to us Brits there nutters., I'm totally atheist so our views do not match. Each to their own.
A lot of preppers are pushing buying gold and silver, again I have no interest in this. Maybe if I was loaded but i'm not so with the money I earn, I'm buying food, water and survival gear.
I don't know what gas prices are in the UK right now, the last time I was there it was 1.09 for a litre of petrol, here gas prices have shot up especially since the unrest in the middle east.
When I first came to the us it was about 1quid for a gallon of gas.

1.30?? WTF! That is ridiculous, how does the government expect people be able to go about there business. If they do not lower the fuel duty pretty soon then they will run the country into the ground.
