Advice please :)

Post by scoobie »

Evening all,

As some of you may know, I was recently made redundant (hence my recent absence, been a bit busy!!). There are quite a number of jobs about for my area of work, but it's looking very likely I'll unfortunately end up working in London, so I'll have the *joy* of the daily commute on the train (I'm 50ish miles from London)

My question for those city workers amongst us, what do you recommend for my daily commute kit/GHB/EDC. I'll already be carrying a reasonably sized laptop rucksack with just a laptop in it, so a fair amount of space...

Let me have your thoughts, thanks :)

I'd put this somewhere on the list...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/AA-Mobile-Phone ... 610&sr=8-1

Its been a lifesaver for me. Not very fast charge, but if you forget to charge your phone and the battery dies, this can be very handy.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/True-Utility-Ca ... -1-catcorr

Chuck a 20 in there and forget about it. Or just keep £20 hidden away from regular use money...

Torch!

Snacks!

Squirrel! Er, wait....already covered snacks...

1 x bottle of water.
1 x small LED torch.
1 x small pocket knife.

That's it. You're just commuting to work not crossing the Amazon.

Am I not? Thank goodness you cleared that up for me, I was confused for a while there.

I'm not carrying a pocket knife into London, no matter how small and 'legal' it is.

What about a pocket A-Z, snacks, small FAK, alternative walking shoes? None of that important, no?

With regards to shoes - keep your 'work' pair at ...work and wear in your everyday comfortable footwear of choice and change when you get there. Too heavy to carry all the time!. Agree with FAK and maps - have a selection - roads, bus routes, underground etc etc.
Good luck scoobie! :)
