in need of some advice

Post by lynne88 »

Hi everyone, I am new to peppering although been looking up videos and ideas for a couple of months. I am on my own with my two children and been quite worried for a while now as many other people are, but I am on here to talk to people about prepping as I don't know anyone else doing it so feel quite alone in all this worry. Is their anywhere in the UK that does meetings or groups about it?
Thanks, Lynne x

hi Lynne and welcome to the forum, preppers tend to be careful on who they talk to about prepping, best advice join in here an develop a rapport with some our scots preppers. After all you need to prep for a Yes Vote :D

So glad I managed to find this, sadly there dosn't seem to be a coordinator for the Essex area,if this changes anytime soon can I set up an alert or will I have to keep coming back and follow the link.
Although it does sometimes feel like I'm talking to an empty room I guess the mod's do read these posts and I know it takes time to get round to everyone of us,I would also like to ask how I go about to get higher clearance so I can log into other areas (bit like the Government with the knowledge is power thing)
I now fully expect to be banned ,but I thought these sites were for sharing our knowledge, not hoarding it I acknowledge some people that went before us noobs screwed it up and did some damage to the forum before they were stopped and binned but should we all be shown no trust until we have made 10 post's that are deemed as ok.Try talking to us on a 1 to 1 basis then you might have a better idea, you have all of our email address's.
I leave now, Not expecting a personal email from anyone, but fully expecting to be removed from this site, if that happens It proves that its not just the government we cant trust.

Hello and welcome! Have a browse on these forums, they are a mine o info.

Just start of small, a bit at a time in regards to preps. Think about the likely thinks to prep for, such as redundancy, ecconomic downturn, horrendous weather that would prevent you going to the shops/doctors and/or result in losses of power. Decide what you need to see you through these times and to be more self reliant and then you're off to a grand start!

That's great advice, thanks. The thing I'm quite confused about though is how you prep and what to get because depending on the situation you want know wither to get extra supplies for the house or wither your going to have to leave :?
Thanks, lynne

Hi lynne, welcome to the forum.

Don't worry, you're already ahead of 99.9% of the population by realizing there's a need to prep.

Start by storing a few bottles of water. Then every time you do the weekly shop put just one or two extra items in your basket. You'll be surprised how quickly your emergency store builds up.
Also try making a list of other essential supplies that might come in handy. (After a while you'll probably have several different lists; food list, medications list, tools list etc.)

There's no right or wrong answer to your question of whether to prep for staying put or bugging out; it all depends on the "emergency situation" at the time. Given time you'll probably develop plans for both. Don't worry about that for now though, just slowly start collecting a few bits and pieces when you can.
