Hi People
i am relatively new on here but have had ideas for a for years but never acted on them till now
BUT hey ho better late than never!!
They say its Survival of the fitest which i believe is BANG ON!
I am prepping for primarily for a world wide finacial collapse
this doesnt mean it will definitly happen but as they say "anything is possible"
has anyone ever considered grouping uip/meeting up when TSHTF
it is survival of the fittest
but when you have a group of people all geared up and ready to survive it raise the odds even higher!
just a thought and i understand you need to trust, meet and develop strong relationships with people
But i am sure in this scenario meeting people while out "surviving" could potentially be fatal!
jus a thought
group survival?
Re: group survival?
3. things spring to mind: 1 it is not just survival of the fitest(although fitness is good),the ones that can ADAPT to the new situation are the ones that will survive. 2.the time to get to know other preppers is BEFORE TSHTF not after, get to know preppers in your area, you'll get to know people you can work with after it all goes TU, and more importantly you'll get to know who to avoid!!! and 3, a group should be made up of people you know and trust(hence no 2!) a group made up of complete strangers post SHTF is a recipe for disaster.
Adapt or Die, there is no middle ground.

People are going to be out there to get whatever they can.
The veneer of human kindness is ever so thin. The have nots will be banging on the doors, I know that there are some that will perfectly capable of going it alone, but for the rest of us, it's going to have to be safety in numbers. A lot of my mates are ex mil and we've discussed "forming a square" if it all ever goes wrong. Those who can give and take orders are good, but it's when someone who tries to be Johnny big wotsits starts giving it mouth-mouth that the rest believe, is when the group could start to break down. No matter how it's done, when it happens, we are all in for it.

Re: group survival?
i like the sound of this, i would like to be in a group of preppers, currently its just my girlfriend, the dog and me. (the dog is more useful than her)
)
none of my friends know about my prepping and i feel like id be judged if i told them, im 21 and to be honest i would be frond upon.
but yes i think group survival would be best, having people to fall back on would be handy as im sure the stress of shtf would get ot anyone after a while.

Re: group survival?
Bigger group has more chances to survive (more skills, guns etc.). Small groups or loners are doomed.
That is proven by history.

Re: group survival?
If you can get to know and trust other preppers before the shtf then IMHO you are already ahead of the crowd. The LOne wolf approach is somewhat limited as if you get injured who will look after you? If it is a family group then it will also bring a lot of baggage with it. a MAG or Mutual aid group brings flexibility with regards to work projects and look out/guard duties. LOne wolf has to do it all him/herself and therefore leaves themselves vulnerable.

Re: group survival?
there will obviously always been a "leader" thats human nature, thats best for most people too.
when it does hit the fan people just want to feel safe, having a leader will make that happen.

a lone wolf needs less; less food, less water, less noise, less tracks. groups tend to argue more, someone always thinks they should be in charge, this causes friction.

A lone wolf might find it hard to get enough sleep, cover all the skills bases, do all the work, or benefit from different points of view, and different experiences. In a group you can allocate jobs and rota duties.
