Recommendations are always good! I have arthritus in the ball joins of my feet - never been able to wear true girlie heels and pointed shoes in my life! I tend to wear walking shoes or live in my DocMartins or CAT boots as I find them reasonably comfortable for day to day wear - though one of the little children that I used to look after when working at a playgroup, did ask me why I wear "mens" shoes! I had some Karrimore walking shoes from Millets that were good but they have seen better days and I need to replace them, preferably with something water resistant and comfy. So any recommendations would be good - oh and I don't want to spend a fortune - thankies!

I've got army surplus boots too. My feet cried like babies when I first wore them, but they've toughened up now, and are very comfortable. Cost me about £35.

If you're not bothered about being the height of fashion, someone on another site posted this link to an Ebay seller selling Swedish Army surplus boots for only around £15 after postage.

They're old (marked 1963/64/65) but never worn and really are tough as old, erm boots I suppose!

Real old school leather so they'll need breaking in.

( I hope it's ok to post a link - I have no affiliation to the seller, It's just a damn good pair of boots for a great price.)

I'm looking to get a new pair of boots that need to be comfortable walking some distance in. Are british army surplus boots really a good alternative to a modern walking boot? I want robustness, durability and toughness, not fashion. Also They need to be as waterproof as possible.

I've just bought myself my first pair of karrimor boots and I must say they are very solid, great for crushing zombie heads......I'd imagine :)
