It ismost certainly a classic. John Seymour was ahead of his time(in a weird retro way ),his first book, "The Fat Of The Land" was his best. However, the most useful of his books(for me) was "The Self Sufficient Gardener", sadly out of print. I borrowed it from the library (20 years ago) but could not get a copy of my own. My lovely Wife went through the Bookfinder General. These were the days before the internet. 1 year later we received a letter saying he had a copy-albeit the US version! This had been invaluable in starting me on the self sufficient road.
Anything by Seymour had a place on my bookshelf.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Robert Frost.

Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.

Me.

i to, prefer the origional (i have both) because there is much less "waffaling" on about the meaning of self sufficiency .

Think I first read the Complete Book of Self-Sufficiency when I was 17 and still one of my favourite books, obviously a wealth of information, written in a really engaging way with all those vivid illustrations by Sally Seymour…absolutely brilliant.

Since then I’ve collected about a dozen of his books,

Always been surprised Retrieved from the Future doesn't get more attention from the survival/preparedness community, bloody good read.
