Bugging Out ?

Post by Carrot Cruncher »

To save dragging gnoles thread further off-topic, for those of you who's plan is to "Bug Out" where are you bugging out to ?

For me, if i have to bug out (and that would be the very last resort) I would be in my Campervan

So where are you going ?

No adresses required

the woods ? a previously stocked remote cottage ? a caravan ?

If you are bugging out without a place to go you are a refugee, and a refugee probably wont fare too well unless they are very lucky

My "bug out" plan is not for apocalyptic events, a "Bug out" should, IMO, be no more than three days, maybe a week at a push, and I would head for the nearest Premier inn or Travel lodge out of the affected/effected area. So in the UK that would be about a mile over the bridge.

A bag with some clothes in and some cash would deal with that.

Having been within a couple of hundred yards of two major industrial unit fires it was a case of a stay at the parents place for a few hours, then to friends for a couple of hours then home again in the evening.

Wer might think about an emergency box for the out of town lock-up garage, but that's about all that is needed.

Iv got a 4x4 and i can live it alone no problem, but i plan set up home in either a deserted cottage or a building iv spotted while exploring some remote places in the uks countryside.

Iv got 2 or 3 locations but its getting there thats the problem. I think within a hour of any event the motorways will be closed or jammed. BUT will us being "prepared" i am counting on me having the upper hand in getting from A to B. I need 2 to 3 hours and I think most people will be squabbling in the alse or forecourts of supermarkets at this point.

My Girlfriend has made me practice this role play a few times over the years. I can be out of the house on the road in around 3 mins

Gnole, I admit that yours is the most likely scenario...though I would still rather be in my camper than a travel lodge, but however unlikely you believe it to be you honestly have no plans at all beyond a B&B or staying with friends for a couple of hours? even for something a lot more serious ?

Not a critcism, we are all here for different reasons........just curious

Part of the reason I like the camper is that it covers (to a certain extent) a hell of a lot of different scenarios from the low risk, high probablity events, to the high risk, low probability events and most cases in between
