For Storm Barney......

Post by Brambles »

The first storm to impact the whole of the UK is due later. What have you done to get ready?

Squared away all the loose stuff in the garden.
Laid the wheelie bins down.
Charged up all the batteries and phones, tablet and laptop.
Heaters, fuel, lanterns and cookers moved to be close to hand.
HOB ready
Cat's HOB ready
Have tried tying the Cat down, call that an epic fail
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain~anon

My other half and I commute by car together as our places of work are a couple of miles away from each other. Barney is due to hit us during this evening's rush hour so we are both leaving work about 15 minutes early so we can get ahead of the majority of traffic, as the storm will more than likely cause delays.

Things are starting to get a bit blustery where I live, the neighbours "for sale" sign has become an early victim of the winds

Its certainly fetching many of the leaves off that had been clinging on up to this point, I put the remaining garden furniture away in the shed & took down the rotary washing line.

This will however be the first real test for my vertical radio antenna & its mounting pole, that I bolted to the house back in August, its being buffeted about a fair bit, but signals are still coming in ok & it seems to be holding up so far, ill be keeping my fingers crossed ! ;)

Done the usual, but this might be the test of the solar panels on the roof.
locked everything down inc the chickens
but as I'm on a night shift tonight I will be taking the chainsaw with me for both going to work and the route back home
hopefully enough leaves have come off the trees to prevent most coming down but with the ground so wet who knows
have to see what the car is like in the morning though

Best of luck everyone
Just remember all the p's

Very windy driving home tonight.

My forest school site is just across the field from school. Unfortunately I can see our tarp shelter flapping around. I've lost that then.
Hoping the wind will calm down for tomorrow so I can go and assess any damage.

Garden is OK, fairly sheltered. Although the poly tunnels do blow around sometimes.

I can hear it blowing around the chimney. But it's cosy in here!!!
