Hello

Post by steviesun »

Hi.

I'm based in SW England. I found this forum through a quick search for "UK preppers" after reading some American sources and getting frustrated with some of the differences. I've kind of been prepping for years - stockpiling and developing skills. Until a couple of years ago I was living in a tiny rural village which was easily cut off when snow fell, and I've also been through 9 months unemployment and times of illness which have prevented me from being able to carry on as normal.

These days I live in a small house with a small garden on the edge of a smallish town. I am developing my garden, I am very interested in forest gardening because I see a lot of potential to get the best out of the small space which is my garden but also see the potential to quietly plant stuff out in my neighbourhood which can later be gathered. I have somewhat fallen out of the habit of stockpiling since we stopped eating wheat. I would like to be able to can up safely some of the stock and broths I make. I used to do archery but again, have fallen out of the habit. I have a lot of demands on my time but I don't consider that a reason not to plan for my comfort when things go wrong.

Hello and welcome.

Sometimes we have to take a break from prepping to evaluate and then start again with a fresh perspective.

Forest Gardening is something I'm very interested in too.

Hello and welcome. Yes uk prepping is somewhat different to the us style. Quite a lot of us on here were preppers before we realised we were! That is to say, preparing for being snowed in, flooded out etc. Happy browsing of the forums.

Hi and Welcome. Sorry to hear you have been having a rough time. You have however made a good positive step by joining us here. I hope you enjoy the stay, and good luckj with your revised prepping; and regaining your skill at archery, I know personally that it can be troublesome.
