Hi everybody, just wanted to introduce myself here - I'm not so much of a "harcore" prepper as I'm sure many of you are, in fact it's a very small part of my life.
When I just started my teenage years, I made very ambitious and almost far-fetched plans for my career, and I've stuck to those plans and so far, I'm still on "schedule" which is a miracle. But these plans always involved career contingencies, and in that sense, there was always a little bit of a prepper in me.
It wasn't until I turned 18 that I started looking into the possibilities of widespread loss of control, be it to disease or military invasion, even though I have always somewhere believed that my generation (I'm soon turning 20) is one of the last few generations of the human race as we know it. To be completely honest, if you look at the statistics of violence and environmental change, it's been increasing exponentially for a long time, and I don't think we have long left. I doubt - we'll make the year 2200. In many ways, I hope that we wont. I think the end of mankind as we know it will come in the next 150 years. I plan on having children at some point, but I also plan on encouraging my children not to have their own in preparation of the probable future events.
I'd say it to be completely acceptable to call me "racially suicidal" - since we've evolved into what we are now, the human race has done nothing good to the world in the long run. It reminds me of The Matrix - where humans are described as parasites. We go from one place, consume all the resources and destroy whatever is in the way, then move on to the next location.
That being said, I still care about my own survival - that much is instinct - but until six months ago when I saw one of "funkyprepper"'s videos, I didn't know what prepping was, even though I always had a mind for what it stood for.
But I'm not here only to seek answers and opinions, but also to give advice and encouragement to those that want it. I'm lucky to have been trained on a vast range of firearms and I've had five years of training and practice in Krav Maga (which I have been forced to use in a few situations - it works, I can vouch for that).
So I hope I can provide some good tips should people want them, and get some good advice too - I know I need it!
In my opinion, you can never know to much, and I'm looking forward to connecting with other preppers here.
Thanks for reading.
Ash

Welcome to the forum!
Erm, what you've written looks pretty "hardcore" to me
go steady, and work through the bits of the forum that interest you - you're young, you're fit, you've got some training, thats a great start.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum. What type of firearm training do you hold? on what weapons? Is it military training or private? As said above your young yet there is so much to take in on this site. 99% of us, if not more are just like yourself. Taking what little time, or money we have and preparing for worse times to come. Those extra few skills or information always help. Anything we can do just holla'!
Cheers

I think terms such as "racially suicidal" is a bit dramatic after all you only have things within the sphere of your own life to deal with and not things that might happen in 200 years time.
Slow down. Take it easy.
Tackle one problem at a time.
I am not here to solve the worlds problems and I certainly cant work out all the various hypothetical SHTF situations in the world. My main concerns are things such as unemployment, delayed pay cheques and bad weather and the like. Ideally I want to get off grid as that way is the safe way IMHO, but one problem at a time.
It does seem that you are trying to take on board every possible international and national issue all at once and that can't be mentally healthy.

Firstly welcome. I have to agree the the above comments. Relax a little, get yourself peppered and ready. Read and take in as much of this site as you can. I believe that a lot of people have experience in firearms of some kind on this site. Like myself I have fired a lot of different weapons when I served in the TA and privately. Also when I was a combat engineer I did explosive and tactical builds. But I'm glad someone else knows how good Krav Maga is. I did Muay Thai for a number of years but when I started krav I clicked with it straight away.

Maybe it might be worth rereading my OP, but imagine a much more casual voice tone haha! I'm not hardcore at all, and while I think what I said is true, it probably won't affect my generation much. I'm simply a "just in case" guy. Not trying to take on board anything, just considering things, thinking about things. Sorry if I came across as a little crazy.
@Survivalist85 - I lived out in the middle east for a few years, had training with few different weapons - Glock 17, Walther P99, CZ P-07 Duty and the Sig P226. Rifle wise - MP5 (ASG model, 9mm semi), M4 and M16. Never had the chance to learn the SA80 or G36 though, always wanted to.
@NickDutch - Racially suicidal - now I read that back it does sound a little OTT. I'm just trying to say I accept the probable fact that we aint going to be around much longer on the whole scheme of things.
@Jamus86 - Interesting you did explosives. I thought Krav Maga was standard now, or at least a version of it, for the AF in Britain. Unfortunately I've had to pull it into use a couple of times, in my opinion it's hugely underestimated. When people say they do things like karate for "defence", it makes me want to "bug out" as you folks say there and then.
