Cheap log burner before the weather arrives!!

Post by joepowell1 »

Hello guys with the weather that has been predicted me and my partner decided to installl a log burner in our living room! But with funds being tight and my shoe string budget we decided to go for a practical rather than pretty option! In steps ronnie sunshine to supply the frontier portable stove! It ticked evey box for us as it can be semi permenantly installed with the flue up a chimney! I also plan to get the 3 litre water boiler for the flue so we have hot water whenever the stove is alight! A great bit of practical prepping if your looking for a stove/heater! I will try and get some pictures up when it arrives! Hope the postman hurrys up christmas is coming early!!

Please ensure you have both smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and that your chimney is clear and suitable.

The stove in question is an outdoors stove, and as such isn't built to the same specs as a house stove would be.

I have seen examples of this stove leak smoke from the main door, lid, and flue sections.

DO NOT LEAVE THIS STOVE UNATTENDED OR BURNING OVERNIGHT.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Yeh I had worried about this but did some research and they are designed for use inside closed tents so meet all indoor standards (although I do plan to rope seal the door!) They leak outside as the flue doesnt draw very good in the open air so should be fine up a chimney! Atb

I agree. Do not underestimate problems with carbon monoxide.

I would also suggest lining the flue with a flue liner.
And putting a plate in the chimney, with a hole init to stop the chimney sucking all the heat out of the room.
I installed a log burner a few years ago, I'll try and post some pictures.
And definitely get monoxide and smoke alarms.
