Already had a stove wanted to stock up on t3eblets but on looking on ebay i found this being cheaper than a pack of 20 tablets!! so ive plenty of these just for the fuel and good to have spares.

Thanks for the heads up, got one bought and will probably buy a few more in the next week or so!

I can't be sure if this idea was already posted on the forum so I'll apologise in advance if I've stepped on someone's toes....
With those hexy folding stoves, it's handy to carry a few extra metal tent pegs. If you put the pegs in the grooves you get a more sturdy support for small pots and tins.

I recently experienced Plymouth City centre so that's why I prep.

Like the idea. generally i only ever used Issued Mess tins on them so not really needed and usually i dig out 1-2" and pack it in to make steady leaving enough room for air to circulate.

Re: Solid Fuel Stoves cheaper than Fuel
I was brought up on hexy cookers and the MOD mess tin but there are better options out there. You probably know about the BCB Crusader cup and the US army equiv. Much easier and more compact in my opinion. My BOB preference is the Solo stove. It's not cheap but it's amazing how quick a few twigs can get a pint of water to the boil, it's not Jetboil quick but it's pretty close. Plus the stove fits perfectly inside the pot.
My GHB has a crusader cup and a few gel pouches.

I know there seems to be a lot of options out there but I like yourself was brought up using these on sites in all weathers. Trust myself not to burn the beans to the bottom of the pan with these also nothing cleans them better than a good rub on wet grass... lol

Try this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Esbit-985ml-Sto ... solid+fuel
A great little stove that uses hex tabs, denatured alcohol in the little burner, or you can just use twigs ala Kelly Kettle style, it's a winner in my book and just as happy with a large pan on top too

I've got one similar to that it was part of a fondu set for toasting marshmellow's in a bowl of melted chocolate, but the base and bowl are solid cast iron and the burner is liquid fuels, so anything will burn, Meths, Spirits, Booze (although I would be inclined to drink the latter)Bodhihermit wrote:Try this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Esbit-985ml-Sto ... solid+fuel

I love it and have used it many times to boil rice and other assorted grains and of course it's not something you would use in an unventilated area due to the CO2 poisoning from the invisible killer fume's, in fact it's the heaviest piece of kit I would have to carry if I was planning on full wilderness bug-out phase. In fact if your looking for a nice burner that cost's the same then just do a search for Fondu set tesco's and you'll pick one up for roughly the same price but remember that due to the fact it's cast iron it's not as light as the Esbit Stove.
