smallholding with solar power, wind power and a distiller on site. enough land to feed myself with vegetables. Enough spare land to grow medicinal herbs. Enough food preservation equipment to see me though a long winter with preserved foods. Close to a stream for water, hydro-power and fishing. Close enough to a woodland for free fuel.....
Ahhhhhh...... Beautiful.........

Re: If money was no object...
I'm with Su and Nick - a small holding with stream and woodland, self sufficiency, and then I would have money to go on courses to learn how to do stuff - I don't have anyone that can teach me basic electronics, woodworking skills etc etc. I would work for me and my own then rather than work to bring in an income to pay the mortgage and utilities. Arh to dream ... I like dreams, with a bit of work, parts of them can become reality sometimes.

Well as you posed the question what would you do if money was no object, why are you now asking about protection if tshtf? That's another discussion altogether!!bettersafethansorry wrote:no livestock dutch? and how would one be protecting your little slice or heaven after TSHTF?
And I guess it depends on what each person thinks the shtf is. Again, another discussion!

I would pack up working for someone else. That just extended my life, considerably. That is survival.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Re: If money was no object...
If I won the lottery it would change my life massively.
I would continue prepping, as it's a state of mind, but it would alleviate a lot of the worry.
I doubt any significant amount of money would go on any ecstravigant prepping, but instead I would start my own charity and I would ensure the wealth is shared out to families with disabled children like myself.
I would build a new house as where we live needs too much work, would be easier to start from scratch but it would be built with my sons needs in mind. It would be as off grid as is possible, it would be not too far from where we are now but in a more rural setting. Possibly the big difference would be I would have a fully stocked medical room with years supply of the things we need. Big garden to be self sufficient in growing veg, which is a bit limited at the moment.
Would splash too much cash on a vehicle - we are looking for a WAV (wheelchair access vehicle) so I would up the anti and get a hybrid type. Right now getting together the deposit for a WAV is the challenge.
Not quite what I expected I was going to say. Amazing how priorities and ideas change in little time.

Mighty nice of you to provide housing for them when you've finished with them!
