Hey guys been on the forum awhile but don't post a lot..
I saw a video that was posted about homemade stab proof jacket and got me thinking. what kind of arms will the "bad people" be carrying or get hold of in a shtf world?
Would the homemade one in the video (even tho he "tested" it wrong) be ok for fending of the average joe that wants your preps or do we need to worry about bigger threats like a townie that managed to get hold of farmer Giles's shotgun?
personal armour as well as fire emergencies has been on my mind a lot at the mo (I don't fancy being beaten up for a tin of beans or my place being burnt to the ground because someone knocked over the camping stove.....)
Food for thought.....
Cheers.

I think id be more inclined to plan to evade or spend some cash on the real deal rather than putting my faith in some home made concoction tbh.
Re fire, NBC suits offer some protection for getting out of danger not to mention their other useful properties.
I told the mrs they were for rabbiting. . . Little does she know lol.

i have 2 , one is ex army issue and will take ceramic plates , the other is a ex police issue i think , navy blue anyway , both are about the same weight .the only real difference other than the plates is the colour . they are a his and hers if you like or one covert and the other not so . if my life depended on it i`d rather have the real deal over some ones idea of one .
YES i walked away mid sentence , you were boring me to death and my survival instincts kick in .

In my opinion you can't beat the real stuff and personally would go for one of the Osprey plate carriers that the Army uses as they can be fitted with MOLLE pouches allowing you to change your layout depending on what your doing. However if your worried about money I suppose that an improvised vest is better than nothing and as I believe the greatest threat will be being stabbed doesn't need to be up to bulletproof standards.
