The whole 'eat what you buy, buy what you eat' makes sense to me so hopefully I'll like some of the tins I bought :)
I got tinned meatballs, stew, chicken in white sauce, hot dogs, chicken curry and bolognaise. Got to like one of them haven't I?
Yip! Try them all then just buy what you actually enjoy. Then try and imagine how you would feel had you eaten the same thing day in day out for three weeks or more - that'll definitely focus the mind on the need for variety!
That's what hot sauce is for
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

But isn't that the problem that Britain and Ireland have when it comes to variety in canned food in shops. alot of them are not the healthiest and i struggle to find healthy options. I know canned fish is healthy enough but we have to eat what we buy and i do buy small potion of canned fish just to have in my food storage but i hate fish and in a shtf event i would eat it but not now. I found chicken curry and chicken meatballs canned but i haven't come across just canned chicken.

I found tinned meats in asda but as you said there wasn't much. There were tins of chicken roll etc but that's a bit much for me lol. I did try chicken curry which I hated but kids and hubby loved, the chicken in white sauce was actually really nice :) great in a pie.

Don't know if I have mentioned this already before, but B+M if you have one near you, does cheap 99p corned beef in small tins and with good ingredients. If you like to make sauces, make a sauce, thoroughly cook a tin of value red kidney beans and then add some of the corned beef. Maybe season and spice with curry powder and serve on basmati rice. It actually tastes like you are eating a real meal and you feel reasonably satisfied after it. One of those tins could be, if used frugally, the meat component (as well as flavour component) for a group of four people.

Bacon grill from lidl's
A&B roll , kind of ham chicken mix , very yummy
Chicken roll
Lidl's own Chicken Korma tins are nice
Lidl's Chicken in white sauce is a bit flowery but palatable , there Chicken tikka tins are a bit hot for my liking
Lidls Meatballs in pasta and sauce are good for an all in one meal

Tinned meat tends to be really unhealthy, high in salt and fat. It does have its place as it stores well and if you need calores in hard times, you get a lot of densely packed ones.

If you want to use Spam or any other 'meat' like product in a can, its really more about how you treat it. If you grate the meat block and add it to mash potato and spring onions, coat balls of it in cracker flour or bread crumbs and deep fry it, it tastes fantastic.

[quote="tanstaafl"]Dont wish to offend anyone but I doubt many on here have been truly hungry, if you have been you will know that any food will taste like the nectar of the gods, hence a large amount of 19p sardine tins (etc) in my cupboard, I understand the ewybbwye mantra but if money is short 50 tins of sardines (and a bag of rice) for a tenner will keep you fed for quite a while. :D

I would agree with that! Any food tastes good when you not eaten!
