An awful situation to be in but by sharing on here makes it very clear why we prep. Peace of mind and knowing you can and will survive this unemployment plip.

If you're shopping in "the place starting with T" (or any of the big chains) try to hit them up late in the day and scope out the stuff in the reduced chiller, its a great source of meat, cheese etc for just pence in the pound.

Check the labels with a mind to freeze most of what you buy, We've quarter filled a freezer with a shop that should of been well over a ton but was nearer to 15 quid (I'll admit it was a really good day)....... Don't get carried away though (store what you eat.....Etc), but it does mean you can eat "Finest" for "Value" prices

Personally, I don't eat cheese until after the Sell-by date (sometimes well after) so buying it 'late' like this makes no difference to me

I thank you all for your good wishes, but as I said, our situation is not unique,and Heaven only knows there are many in a VERY much worse position.
On a (now) humorous note, this morning I applied for a job online. At the beginning I was told that it would take about an hour-yeah right!
I ain't a computer whizz kid. After losing data twice, having a mini-row with Jan( sorry babe!), and the computer freezing, I submitted the form after about three hours!!!!
Dear God I was knackered. Thing is, I am qualified -but computers...
Anyhow,I went outside and cut a huge hedge down and did some honest sweatin' ,I am just programmed as a work-machine!

My Brother said just now, don't stress out. The working world is finished now for the week, and nothing will happen until next week. He is right. Off up the holding to water the polytunnel and the animals.

excellent comments from real people with their eyes wide open, we are the true survivors in almost any non global catastrophic disaster. the global disaster is the worlds economy and the zombie presence is the worlds government leaders sucking us tax payers and people not far from the breadline for every penny they can get. but most of us like jansman are able to turn his hand to most things work related will survive by their knowledge and skills. myself am not able to store much supplies as food and water as my council ordered me to get rid off the weighty supplies i stored in my flats loft and my storage shed kept etting broke in to and instead of stealing the food etc they smashed it all up and destroyed it. but now instead of food i invested in a decent chainsaw tools and other items and these enable me to grow a few veg and other things on my small gardens i manage for a few elderly friends and they enjoy the free food i share with them. my diy skills are very much in demand as some one always needs something doing but at a price they can afford. i do not wish to be rich and enjoy the day to day activity it brings and the old and lonely have a vast and varied knowledge as well as a few of the old war stories from the old soldiers as they are the real life survivors. i listern and learn. so good luck to all and if the shtf use your skills and knowledge to help others if u can as theres strengh in numbers.
