Re: Water Filtration
You really need to be filtering any untreated water down to 0.2 of one micron the filter you talk about only filters to 0.5 in an outage situation to be completely safe you would need to boil your water for five mins depending on your water source
Re: Water Filtration
I've been intending to buy a filter for a while now but until now haven't got around to it (too mean!!!) so thanks to the OP for the 'nudge'.
I did an interned search in my area (I wanted to see before buying) and ended up using these people:
http://www.avonsoft.com/system/index.html (edit: sorry you have to navigate around site to get price of Gravity Water filters) £64.60 plus the VAT totals £77.52
for the ATC (carbon) model
Compared to Greenshop, who charge £96.76 for merely 'super' not 'ATC super' sterasyl candles it was a bargain.
Safariquip charge £110! http://www.safariquip.co.uk/brands/brit ... er-filter/
For the candles Avonsoft charges 7" Supersterasyl - was £12.05 now £9.63 7" ATC Supersterasyl - was £14.08 now £11.26 for the candles, which seems a reasonable price. http://www.avonsoft.com/system/index.html
So if you want a filter I suggest you do a local search in addition to looking at the national companies. Certainly in my area (Somerset) it appears to be cheaper to buy from a water softener company rather than an 'expedition' or 'green' supplier.
P.S. I bought 1/2 dozen 'candles' couldn't avoid a smile thinking of buying just 4!
P.P.S You have to be a child of the '70's to know what I mean about walking onto a shop and asking for 4 candles! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCbvCRkl_4U
