Hi,
I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Francis, I am an engineer and I live in the North West. I have found some great information on this site, so thanks to everyone for that.
I have been working on a few engineering solutions to problems that many preppers in the Uk seem to be facing. I am almost there with several solutions, and I will keep you posted.
Thanks again for all your great advice.
Francis

Welcome to the forum, Francis.
I would like to take this opportunity to mention that UK Preppers is not to be used to try and give our members the hard sell for your products. If you are genuinely interested in being an active contributor to the forum and member of our community that's fantastic, and we are happy to have you, but if you are just here to try and sell us stuff then I suggest that you try elsewhere as this is not what we are about. We have had three of four new 'members' over the past few weeks alone trying the same tactics, and they are no longer here. Just sayin'...

Hi,
thanks for your warm words of welcome, and I take on board your advice about not selling stuff.
Don't worry, I wont be doing that.
I was going over my prepper plans and knew that I need to communicate with my neighbours, in the event of some emergency or civil unrest.
So I bought what appears to be a great set of walkie talkies off ebay for about £20. We tested them last night and they worked great. There was a bit of interference, in that every now and again I could hear two women having an 'intimate conversation'. I regarded this as a welcome bonus.
Today it occurs to me that I need to get a good supply off back up batteries, as I have no idea how long the batteries last. I will make sure my neighbour has a set of spare batteries too.
