As the name sugests I'm rather new to prepping and as such was wondering what should go into my BOB. I've already got a few items but was looking for a bit of help and was also wondering if I was heading in the right direction.
The iems I already have are:
A 120L PLCE bergan (I got cheap off of a friend)
British Army mess tins
A '58 patteren water bottle (and some water purification tablets)
A Hexi stove (with a spare pack of Hexi)
Some assorted meals from ration packs
Swiss Army Knife (simply as a spare for small tasks not as my main knife)
Sleeping bag (2/3 seasons)
10m of 550 para cord
A pair of good walking boots
My main plan is to bug in and wait it out with my limited food stores and if it doen't pass over quickly start to plant the seeds I have stored. The BOB would only be for a plan C if I had to leave in a hurry with no warning and without prior planing. Can you pesase give an aproximate price if possible? That would also be a great help.

Of course, some items will be personal to you.
Hope that helps.

Re: Beginer BOB
That is a good start point, though I would be a little concerned with a bag that big, could you sell it or swap it for something about half that size. The Newbie Prepper wrote:As the name sugests I'm rather new to prepping and as such was wondering what should go into my BOB. Don't go about it from a price point of view, look around at home to see what you already have.
Priorities are
Protection from the elements
First aid for any injuries
Aids to make life a bit easier on the move
Water for drinking, cooking and washing
Food for meals, snacks whilst on the move or static
Hexi has about ten minutes cooking time for each block, so a couple of packs will give about 2 hrs 40 minutes total, also difficult to re-pack part used blocks. Also it is toxic and quite dirty to burn, perhaps a meths stove or gas stove will be better as it could be used in a sheltered space without the fumes a hexi gives off.
Check on Ebay for second hand trangias and also small gas stoves from abroad are cheap and effective. Maybe £20 tops as a guide.
Your water bottle choice is pretty much bomb proof, add a Crusader cooking system to it and it is very versatile.
Again look on the auction sites, bushcraft stores etc, they can be found for about £10 to £15
Three full ration packs will cover a great deal more than just food and drinks, and can be stretched to a bit more than 72hrs if necessary.
Probably about £10 per pack, but shop around the various internet sites to find the best price.
Add a survival bag to the sleeping bag and you have a shelter from above and below, available in green as well as orange
Probably £3 to £4 each.
Ex army jungle sleeping bags are good for when the weather is warmer or you have a good shelter, and compact to about the size of a small football.
About £10 to £15 sometimes more.
As for comforts, wash kits, spare clothing, pocket radio, two way radios and other stuff it is dependent on what you feel you will need or what the weather dictates.
Important to consider is how to practice with all the stuff you have gathered and then re-evaluate after the trial.
But even more important is to have fun whilst working it all out.
Stop, Read, absorb, understand, reply.

Sorry junmist I don't think I made it clear. The boots arn't in my BOB I just thought I would add it to the list as if I am covering any real distance then a good pair of boots will make a difference.
