This is basically from my blog but my review of the knife. I will be adding more equipment reviews over time (http://survivalistuk.blogspot.com)
**********
So after many years of having one single survival knife that eventually broke I decided it was time to look for a replacement. Now I wanted a decent all round knife to replace my long time friend who has seen me through a lot. No one knife is perfect for all situations as different blades specialize in different areas. So I am looking for a jack of all trades knife, not the best at anything but good at all tasks. I have no idea what the old one was as it was a gift 10+ years ago and it never had a name on it. I tried to research it but with no luck.
Anyway I wanted a slightly bigger blade this time as my old one was 5 inches and was a little short at times when needed. So I thought around the 7"/8" mark might be a better size for my needs. It needs to be full tang and durable. So I started to look round for reviews so I would have an idea of what makes and types had good reputations.
I decided on the Nakura 13" Apache tactical knife. I payed £15 for it as it was on offer. It included a nylon sheath that fits the blade nicely. The overall length of the blade is 13", however, the actual blade size is only 8". It is razor sharp and made from stainless steel. The handle is shock absorbing rubber that feels nice in the hand.
I have done a few tests in my own yard to see how well it coped with what I wanted it to do. I found the knife to be good, little big for my needs and the blade seems to wear down a little too quick for my liking. This means it will need sharpening often to keep its razor-ness about it. The size is more my fault because as much as like this blade, it has a nice weight and feel to it, 8" is a little to big for me I think.
I do like this knife but it just falls short of what I'm looking for. So overall I would score the knife 8/10.
I will keep looking to find a replacement I'm comfortable with.

Im always wary of large budget knives. Also this is made from stainless steel which is not ideal, depending on what you use it for. Carbon steel and variants are best for knives generally as they hold an edge better. This explains why you have to resharpen often. However stainless steel doesnt rust which carbon steel does.
If you want a basic smallish no-nonsense knife you cant go wrong with mora knives which are carbon steel and can cost as little as 12 pounds delivered.
Saying that, if this works for you then that is fine!

Second on the mora, I have 3!!
I personally don't like the big knives but you might!!!
The stainless will be the longer term issue. Holding a good consistent blade and dealing with rough treatment may end up being an issue. Let us know when you've given it some stick

Same mine is a mora also, something tells me that preppers like mora's.
I don't like large knives, I don't feel as it it's a controllable as others.

Well I have always been the type of person that has one blade and I use it for everything. This one is a good blade but not a great blade. It has its flaws but thats what you get for the price, but all round it s good knife. As the last was 5 inches and felt a little short at times I thought a few inches more would be ideal but I was a bit wrong, maybe a 6/7 inch would be better.
I dont really care what make as long as it does what I need it to do. Which is:
1) Fishing - gutting fish, cutting wire etc
2) Hunting - cutting & gutting
3) Woodwork - Cutting branches (small to medium) and steady enough to cut through logs if needed for fire.
4) General use
Problem is finding a knife thats great at all the above is impossible.
Thanks for the recommendations by the way.
