Just had a go of my new commando stove and crusader cook kit,
the stove: 0.5L water in Crusader cup, its 11 degrees outside and it hit a rolling boil in 4m44s.
The crusader kit: i tried the little round hexi tabs that were sent with it as ive been told they are rubbish.
Turns out they are, unless im doing something wrong, had to get them started with meths, used 3 and small wood pieces and the water still hadnt boiled after 20 mins, so got out my normal hexi kit broke a normal square tab into 4, used 2 bits and the water boiled in about 5 mins.
all trial and error, but want to do a few more tests and make a meths stove out of coke cans next, its been a good birthday sofar, pressies posted in Prepper presant thread.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Was bored last night so randomly decided to make a new sling out of 550 Paracord. Works pretty well (can hurl a golf ball over a considerable distance, and I'm a fairly accurate shot... could always be better though)
Tonight I'm testing a new live trap design I came up with (actually going to test it on an annoying mouse that's been terrorizing my home office for the last 3 weeks and has thwated 5 different types of conventional mouse trap). If this new trap design works, I'll do a post in its design and deployment.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
- while I was away, I took the phone number of the public phone box in my mother's village. If things get a lot worse, I could tell her I'll phone it at a certain time every day, something like that. That would be if the rest of the system stops working, of course. No idea if it could work, but can't harm to have the number.
- I was reading something or other about the treatment of burns, and that if nothing's available, to use clingfilm (I know it can also cut down on scarring, and its used for that at the moment, I think). Anyway, following my idea of working on medical preps, I bought a couple of rolls when I went shopping today - really good investment, Sainsbo Basics cost was less than £1.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Went through and rotated all my foods. Added up on the spreadsheet I've got 253 days worth @ 2,000 cals a day. Not too bad, a few gaps to fill in but I won't be making any big changes this year I don't think.
