How to make basic washing detergent at home for pennys!
Ingredients
1. One bar of ivory soap.
2. 150g Borax substitut.
3. 150g Soda Crystals.
4.Water
Equipment
1. Grater.
2. Large Spoon.
3. Bucket.
4. Cooking Pot.
5. Jug.
6. Scales.
7. Bucket.
8. One Brew (Yorkshire Tea preferred).
Method
Okay lets get into it. Firstly you want to put 6 cups of water into a cooking pot and bring tp a boil. While you wait for the water to boil you want to grate your soap. Once the water is boiling turn the heat down to a simmer.
Now pour your grated soap into the hot water. You will now have to wait for the soap to melt, if you only have a small kettle you want to be filling your bucket with 1 gallon of hot water and 4 cups of cold water.
When the soap has melted you want to pour the soap water into the bucket. With the soap water added you want to add in the borax and soda crystals all at once and stir till both are dissolved.
When both are dissolved leave the bucket in a safe place away from pets and children for 24 hours.
When you rerurn the mixture should of turned into a gel water, I think it looks like a watery wallpaper paste. This is the mixture complete. Either pour into containers e.g. milk bottles or old washing detergent bottles.
Use 1/2 a cup per load. You can add essential oils if wanted.
Have fun with this and save money! Don't forgot to drink your brew.
