Did something I've been meaning to do for ages. I cleaned out the smaller of my 2 water butts ( fed by rainwater ) and bleached it. I then cleaned the drainpipes that feed the water into it. I then plugged the drain inlet and outlet with a New sponge to filter the water. Now I get nearly clean water in a 50l container to use as emergency drinking water. Would use water filter before I drank it but its as clean as I can get of now.
Oh..also made cottage pie using potatoes courgette and carrots I free in my garden

Well done - I'm 7 months off (after smoking since my teens) and I'm now LOVING being a non smoker. Take all the help / support / advise you can get. (and PM me if you're struggling!)

I found the same when i first started and realised I had very little extra put away, I was shopping 3-4 times a week to build up stocks. Now I have kinda reached a plateau and just need to add an odd tin or whatever here and there during my normal weekly shop
I also levelled off my shopping habits after I realised my spy-card (sorry supermarket loyalty card) held alot of info on my buying habits when the till started spitting out extra coupons for all my typical prepping items, very useful sure, but makes you realise how much they know about your preps without your informed consent
mainly concentrating on the staples at the moment ,integrating extra on to my normal shops, going for month supply initially, basically tinned meats, tinned potatoes, tinned veg, then look into long term storage, been bottling water and may buy some to augment supply. treated myself to trip into town today , went into mainstream camping shop , picked up compass and water purification tabs £23 pound !! didnt check price of compass 18 also bought the pocket SAS survival guide. Im having to guard against "Prep..Panic" hey im better off than i was 2 months ago even if TSHTF... but im heading for that plateau
Hi everyone i havent been on here in a while i have been working a lot mainly but have been doing a few preps here and there not as much as i should but nevere mind.
I have recently pass a chainsaw course and have applied for a couple of other short coursees minly as a prep for more work in the near future and it is aslo important to keep picking up new skils.
Appart from that i have been keeping up with my food preps and the garden its been amazing that any thing has grown at all with the weather we hand this summer but i have had some success with my potatos, onions, sweeds, cabbage and beetroots.
well its been good having a read of the many post that i have missed but will be back on here soon. swompy
Finally got around to buying a paper shredder. i was on holiday with my family in France and we visited a Lidl. They had shredders for less then 10 euros. It fits in my shaver socket in the bathroom and works ok with 1 - 3 A4 pieces of paper at a time (which is less then their advertised 5, but it was a cheap shredder so i aint complaining). Wilkinsons was charging over 20 quid for something very similar!!
So that means that i can hide my account numbers, address details and the like from unpleasant people with ease. maybe i can use the shredded paper as a fuel and work out a way of pelleting it? I am not sure, but i will try and find a solution.
reperio a solutio

have you seen those paper bricks . you make them at home and use them on a open fire or wood burner stove set up , just seen them on youtube might have a go at making one rather than try to buy one . much better way of hiding sensative info .
YES i walked away mid sentence , you were boring me to death and my survival instincts kick in .
