Guys, if we're talking tin openers, get yourselves some P38s. You can find clones on eBay for very little. I have a few. They just seem to work - very little to go wrong. I've been using mine for most of this year. I keep one in my EDC as they're so small.moocher wrote:funny enough i said to wife must get can openers, prepareathome wrote:I would add water to every trip you make to buy food, remember water could go off and those cup a soups would be useless without it.moocher wrote:so far i have a 10 pack of toilet roll
4 tins of corned beef
4 of bacon grill
4 of butter beans
6 lots of cup a soup which each one is a 5 pack so 30 servings in total.
)
Remember you can survive without for for around 3 weeks, can be far longer, but water only 3 days without water so water has got to be the No1 item to buy,
Also have you sorted some water to heat water and food - most of what you bought I think can be eaten straight from tin ( never had bacon grill so don't know about that )
And make sure you have a few can openers at very least, can pick up cheapo ones for a quid at most.
we have one in kitchen but i want several in the stash,
my main concern with the water is the weight of it ,ideally it needs to be on ground floor i suppose.
bacon grill is in lidls in a spam? shaped tin
i normally slice it an fry it both sides it cooks quickly ,
abit salty tasting though .

This week the bulk toilet paper came from a discount site and safely stowed in the loft, I think of this as added insulation. enough for three months could not believe how much two children and two adults use in three months.
12 packets of soup/broth mix for the home made bean soups ( will last 6mths at current rate of eating)
milk Powder for the store we dont use it as a rule but hate tea without milk so as this is sainsbury basic with a three year shelf life it is good to have at little cost.
it is a wonder how much stuff we consume in three months and the realisation we do not have the space to store everything.

Went to a wholesale supplier of Army surplus/kit and picked up 20 pairs of new Magnum boots and a few other bits, then I bought 40 pairs of Levi's 527 boot cut Jeans for another wholesale supplier on the same astate, along with 40 work shirts and 100 lonsdale vest, 100 lonsdale boxers, 100 socks. (I own a IT business, so may as well use the perks)

Lol, with the price of everything going up and oil being used in everything for production to shipping, its better to get stuff now while its cheapish and even if tshtf never happens, I will not need to buy those things for a few years.diamond lil wrote:You gonny open a shop ?

I am preparing for the cold weather coming south by having the man flu now! and based on the last two colds I dont think its worth me preparing for a pandemic cos it would probably get me before the panic hit!
