Fortunately he was in and even more fortunately the brother in law was round with the little one as he's a big ginger ex rugby League brick outhouse who played for one of the big northern teams.. think my dad's vocal attack and his backup appearing had the desired affect
Bigger chain fitted and a camera with inbuilt alarm and remote paging if it detects movement

Someone nicked my downpipe last week for the water butt leaving a gap so the water after storm was falling direct onto path at side of house
If it ain't nailed down
We have camera pointing directly at the path ..he didn't care prep this week .. move water butt to back of house where we already have a few and leave it there. leave front bare and uninteresting to any potential tealeafing ....

Ordered a pair of fairly cheap sunglasses, make is Duco, £22. They are polarising, non-photochromatic, fairly dark. I'm skipping the cameras idea for now, quote was a bit dear, and I don't want to mess with DIY. Quote was 2 cameras wired to hard disc recorder plugged into router. Decent quality. But was £998 plus vat.
I managed to get a crucial screw in the London Bar, just below the Yale bit. Electrician did it for free! I didn't dare as the doorbell wire was very close.
I need to get the mortice deadlock guard, but it's £72 inc vat, and I'm a bit scared of doing it wrong, but I probably will eventually.
I'm a bit more chilled about the burglary thing now.

For solar panel guessing your wanting small / compact usb charging?
I don't think this summer will be as extreme as 2022, and El Nino has ended now, but it's warm enough for me to want a fan on now (24.5 in my room). Not sure how the double glazing will change things. I can open these windows wider, and I have a venetian blind now, but there's not much breeze, and it's blowing the wrong way.
My old fan doesn't oscillate anymore, and I have nowhere to put it now to get it at the right height. So I was looking at getting a pedastel one, about 3-4 ft high. Ended up paying three times as much as I was intending, but got it nearly £20 off, for a Meaco 1056 P. It is a beast, bigger than I expected, but very quiet and has some great features. So, a quick review for anyone interested.
I have it on the lowest speed at the moment, 1 out of 12, but on Natural, which makes the speed vary (from 1 to maybe 2 or 3 I think) every few seconds. Speed variation is smooth and natural. I really like this setting.
It is set to vertical and horizontal oscillation. Vertical goes from slightly below horizontal to more than 45° up. It remembers the settings if you turn the power off, not sure it you unplug it (probably not). It has a handy, round remote control that can be attached to the fan by a magnet on the front when not in use, eg for winter storage. You can adjust the height, and it has a carry strap on top. Despite being a beast, this fan barely uses any power, 8-24 W, ie 0.024 kW max, ie around 0.5p per hour max. Base light shows the settings and temperature, but you can turn this off. 2 year warranty. You can extend it to 5 years for £60 but I think I'll chance it.
My old fan used to hurt my eyes if it was blowing towards me, so I had to point it to the side, which means no breeze on me, but this fan hasn't done that so far, preumably because of the four way oscillation and natural setting.
