In the past I have lost whole Tomato crops to this nasty disease and while I'm stuck indoors I use my time to do a bit of research and planning for next season. I've been looking for ways to tip the balance in my favour and came across these articles.
The first is an article from the Independant citing James Wong, and the second is from a blogger who has used the method successfully.
Basically you spray your Tomatoes fortnightly with soluble Aspirin and it can provoke a 'systemically acquired resistance' which increases the plants ability to fight disease. Well, I'm all for prevention especially with blight. It's heartbreaking watching your year's supply of Tomatoes turn into a useless mush.
Anyhoo, I thought I'd share what I found and maybe anyone else who tries it could pop results in. I'll update at the end of the season.

Ooh...not had a problem on the tomatoes but I did suffer potato blight with my summer planted potatoes. Personally I can't tolerate asprin so I never have any in the house, but I figure it's worth 19p from a well-known supermarket to give it a whirl next season! Ta for the tip!

I've seen paracetamol at that price but not asprin. Where are you shopping for asprin?
Ah...as I've never bought asprin I was presuming it'll be the same price as paracetamol, which I do buy! Evidently I am wrong...my bad!
