Mentioned to the other half about getting a water butt to collect from the shed roof because 'rain water is better for the plants'. She thought it was a good idea so just ordered a 190L water butt for the garden from getcomposting.com and found out they have a special where you buy one and get one for half price. So two on the way with stands and diverter kits for £51 delivered!

Ordered the guttering and that's on the way as well. I see a busy Easter weekend coming up :D

Now she tells me she was banned from all the fairground shooting galleries in the midlands. But come on....white string, white background? Sheesh.

Took delivery of my Vango Sherpa bergen, its cracking. My Mora Pro Carbon came too. :D
I picked up a Mora Heavy Duty the other week - partly for the prep kit, and partly for use in the garden.

So far, so excellent. Really well made, a great price and razor sharp out of the box.

I also got one of those folding saws from Lidl the other week too. Used this and the Mora to help clear the neighbour's garden for him.

Both passed the test well and are highly recommended

My shotgun licence has come through! :D Bought a nice leather licence holder for it, because it deserves it, then off to spend more money on Wednesday 8-) Have been borrowing a Lanber (because it was the only one at the club with a vaguely short enough length of pull available!). Am intending to try out a Beretta Silver Pigeon and a Browning 725...and pay for a proper gun fit as there's not going to be an off-the-shelf one that fits little ol' me!

Good feeling isn't it, had mine since 2013 got our first (section 2) shotgun only last week.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

Still trying to get our cow-pasture lawn through its first cut. My son is trying out his hernia op to see if things will go wrong if he uses the mower...he has got half done with no problems and dire threats from his mumsy! I've been tackling the giant hogweed patch at the bottom of the garden ...strong gloves and closed bags required. March was so wet in our part of Wales that now is really the first time we could get to grips with it all. I keep telling myself how much more slim and beautiful I'll be after all the strimming I'm doing....who needs a gym!? Hubby is fixing up the greenhouse for another season's tomatoes and cucumbers and peppers.

We can but dream.

Invested in a new rucksack to be able to store some supplies in case we needed to leave the house quickly and also to use for day hikes etc now the weather is getting nicer. Started some additional research on gardening so I can better manage the space I've got and make sure I utilise it as best as possible.

My new Mora had its debut today - I made a new handle for a ball pein hammer from some seasoned timber that I had saved. Im impressed, it was sharp when it came, I tried to strop it but it didnt need it. It is comfortable to use and manage-able. The plastic sheath has a toggle to fit another piggy-back sheath - I used it to secure the knife by winding the inevitable paracord lanyard around it ;)

Happy knife-bunny :D

Not having been on here in a for a little while due to a project I've been working on I thought I would post an update.

So Prep wise, been tweaking my EDC & BOB now the weather is starting to change a little here.

Been on a 4 day break to France to visit my mother and spent 36 hours out in the lower Pyrenees Mountains living off the land and giving my BOB a real work out. Was brilliant (weather was 25c during the day and about 15c at night) Took my BOB as hold luggage. Wild Asparagus is in season out there so always ate well from the land.

I've also been working on a big project at home. Basically I've been spending time over the past year turning my home into a smart home (I'm a closet geek as well as a prepper) and have made a big leap forwards with home security and also ensuring that the connected side is secure. I can now control the lights, heating, hot water, Entertainment (TV/Stereos), CCTV, Doorbell & smoke alarms remotely from anywhere I can get an internet connection (including talking to people who ring the doorbell) so it is always as if I am home. Along side this i've also had CO2, Humidity, Heat (Temp), smoke, noise and Carbon Monoxide sensors installed in each room of the house. I say had, it was muggins here who done the hard work.

Why do I consider this a prep, well it's made the home secure and monitored (not every prep is about the end of the world) and it is already showing savings of just over £5 a week from the energy bill. As the heating program 'learns' about the house it will make further savings and I predict the total investment will pay for itself in less than 18 months. (The internet also has a battery GSM backup and the main alarm and CCTV camera are also battery backed up should I lose power)

I'm now starting to try to design a way of connecting/making an electric curtain pole connect to an internet connected switch so I can open & close the curtains remotely.

Finally I've built and seeded my raised square foot garden project. (well 3 square foot) made from some old pallets and tarp lining. A local transport company let me have the pallets for free so long as I took 20 of them & even dropped them off for free at my home. Used what I needed and sold the rest for £15 on Gumtree!

Sorry it's a long post...
