New to the forum, Hampshire.

Post by Landy »

Hello all, I've been browsing the site for a few years and have finally pulled my thumb out and made an account (I thought you had to pay, obviously not!).
I've been prepping for a few years now but I'm having to start again in a way due to an unplanned move to my current place.
I live on the Hampshire/Surrey border, where there's plenty of woodland going unused, which is good as it's my preferred BOL.
I'm planning to build a semi permanent camp site in said woods and have it there for if I ever need it, if anyone has done this before then please share your experience :)
I don't really know anyone in the prepping community that I've ever seen in person, does anyone do any meets?

Thank you for having me, Landy

Hi and welcome .
All woodland in the uk is owned by someone , setting up a "camp" maybe unwise.
Look into the countryside code and also "armed trespass" incase you find yourself onthe other side of the law . And be warned that the woodsman , ghillie or bailiff for the woods may ask you to leave .

Welcome aboard

Hello Landy, welcome in!

And yes to what poppypiesdad has said - land belongs to someone, and if you're doing more than walking through it (which is still trespass) a prosecution of some sort is on the cards. There are people on here who own small amounts of land, and I understand much more about the "smallholder level" of landowning now, because of that.

And there's a lot of prepping to be done before you ever think about a "BOL" - population density puts paid to that in the UK, for the most part, even though those woods may be unused right now.

Yeah I have the LOP don't worry! I probably should have stated that to start with.
Also, I've always done a BOL first, I know it's not the normal - or logical - way to do things, but it stops me itching and puts me at ease to an extent.
