Hello .

Post by Andy M »

Hello .

So its a quiet day at work , And I've been surfing the web and seemed to have stumbled across you guys .

So , About me? I guess you could say I've been prepping for most of my life . Seemed to all always be out the house while I was little , Cubs , Scouts , Army cadets and finally joined the Army at 16 . ( Starting to get the feeling my old mum didn't want me in the house! )

After spending over half my Army career on active service , I decided to leave in '92 . Mucked around for a few years doing various jobs on the BG circuit , Then kinda drifted into dept collection and door work . Did this for around 10 years and only left after the SIA came along and started throwing their weight around ( Just like I said they would ) .

I now run a few security contracts in the Portsmouth area .

My (Much ) Better half and I are both SGC Holders and I'm also a FAC holder , Have been for around 9 years now . We are both heavily involved in hunting And these days spend what little free time we have trying to bag something for our dinner . My wife has 2 shotguns of her own , And I have 2 as well , I also have 3 .22RFs , A .17 HMR and a rather nice Savage 24 SD .22/.410 O/U combination rifle/shotgun (Its actually for sale , Details are on the Gunstar and Guntrader sites) .

I'm also a fairly experienced trapper , But tend to mostly shoot everything these days . But still do enough to keep my hand in . Have approx. 9'000 acres to hunt/shoot over in about 6/7 places in the local area to me . We do a fair amount of pest and vermin control for a few local farmers .

During my time in the forces , I did a few "Survival" type courses , But don't class myself as an expert in any way shape or form . Always willing to learn new skills .

I would really like to meet people local to me to swop ideas and maybe do a little trading of equipment ( Of which I have A LOT! ) .

So , ( Guessing I've now bored everyone to death ) That's me , Please feel free to ask any questions I maybe able to advise on , Or on anything I've missed out and should have covered in my intro?

Many thanks for having me and I look forward to chatting and hopefully be able to add something , As well and take something , From the site .

All the best fellas .

Andy .

Ha! I don't know about that .

The few areas I tend to know a bit more than the average man on the street is shooting , Hunting and trapping . Can prep and cook just about thing I kill and then use the skins for something .

Have also trained heavily in various MAs and other fighting systems . And I'll be honest , Most of it has been a bit of a waste of time considering the end goal I was training for . After 20 odd years I've finally decided that your best bet is to learn a handful of moves , And learn to make them fit any situation you may find yourself in . And there's a lot worse things you could waste your time on than learning the often forgotten art of the "Sucker punch" . Something I learnt during 10 years of working as a doorman in various Portsmouth night clubs and pubs is the first person to land a good solid hard punch on target normally wins , As long as they do their follow up straight away , The follow up could be finishing the other guy , Or walking away . Seemed to me the people that stood around afterwards , For what ever reason , Came away after round two worse off .

If anyones is in the Portsmouth area and fancys having their ears talked off about guns/shooting/hunting etc... Or wants to learn a few of the basic , They are more than welcome to join me sometime? Offers there should someone want it?

Anyway , Many thanks to everyone above for the very warm welcome , Thanks guys .

All the best .

You mean the Royal Navy school of dancing? And yes I did a while at Jo's. But spent most of my time next door at Zoom and the basement or Lush and Bliss after the refit.

Not ex Navy by any chance mate?

Many thanks for the reply.

All the best.

I was known to dabble with a blue suit, when I was in the Pompey exercise area's I was more of a Gosport rating, Emwa's was the dancing school of choice for your discerning submariner, I did slum it occasionally though. 8-)

Hope you find what you're looking for on here mate, I've found it really useful.

Cheers from a fellow Andy
