I am a 25 year old female teacher from Manchester. I guess I have been prepping in one way or another since my early teens, Dad is ex army and our family has always lived by the 6 P's - Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance. I have lately been looking into putting some more solid preparations in place as I'm fairly concerned about the way the world is going, I have always had a suspicion society will combust one day but with the current state of things I'm starting to think that day is coming swifter than I thought.
I am quite familiar with bushcraft skills such as fire starting and shelter building having done a lot of camping and some 'wild camping' in the past.
I have a fairly non traditional lifestyle, I'm a biker and I live on a 50 foot Narrowboat on the Leeds and Liverpool canal which I think is brilliant for many SHTF situations, (I'm not worried at all by the recent floods for example). We have a multi fuel burning stove with a store of seasoned wood and we always have at least 5 bags of coal, a large water tank (a little over a week supply with standard use like daily showers for 2 people and washing dishes etc but I'm confident that could be vastly extended in a crisis) and 3 months calor gas supply. We also have 2 petrol generators (one is a backup) and solar panels to generate power and we have a bulletproof Lister ST2 engine which will go forever and a decent supply of red diesel.
We have a variety of defensive measures, including air rifles, crossbow and various bladed implements. I have looked into obtaining a firearm and I am looking to join a marksmanship club in order to have a valid reason for ownership. I do airsoft and though I have 500fps weapons I'm looking for something that shoots more than plastic bbs. We have a greenhouse nearby and I have been experimentibg with growing veg (with varying success) for the last 3 years.
Things I'm looking to do in future -
Stockpile survival food - I was looking at buying mountain house tins or the like (at least 3 months worth). We already have 72hr emergency rations.
-Obtain firearm licence and then a firearm
-Practise some more wild camping as it has been a few years
-Pick up some tips and advice from you lovely people.
