When I'm loafing about the house (in t shirt and shorts as standard) I find the fairly cheap fleecy blankets are quite handy, I usually have one on the sofa's to reduce dog debris and its not unknown for me to crawl under if I'm feeling chill or fancy a wee siesta.

Have a good look at the Millets website, they always have sales on. I bought Gelert thermals last year, long sleeve top top and bottom for £5 each, they are very warm.

Millets is good, yes. Brambles we run a coal fired stove that stays on 24/7 for most of the year. The living room is hot, the hall and front bedroom are warm, and the back of the house -north facing- varies from cool to baltic. He sits in the livingroom, gets used to the warmth then the minute I open a door he starts moaning that he's freezing  To be honest I'm not sure if thermals would really solve this but some fabrics adjust to the ambient temp don't they. It's windy and snowing today and the minute he moves out of the room he is going to feel cold - maybe if he had a good thermal tshirt on then he wouldnt?
Or maybe it would be easier to go on amazon and get a more hot-blooded man... decisions decisions

I had a heart attack 12 years ago and the blood thinners really do a number on your ability to maintain temp. It is just one of the side effects of staying alive after a cardiac event and no good excuse to boil the rest of the world around you.

Time for him to grow up, man up, and put on a sweater!

That is why they invented cardigans and jerseys.

Ouch! I'm glad you're still here, but I didn't know about that effect ... something else to take into account. Thanks!

Interesting one this. Although we have central heating, we only use it when the cold is extreme. Neither of us like being too hot. We heat with two multi fuel stoves, and there is portable electric upstairs, but it is rarely used. It may sound Spartan but the stoves keep the place quite comfy.

And we wear layered clothing. When it gets really cold I wear thermals too. No sense in suffering when I walk over to the West Wing

But seriously, our ancestors wore far more clothing than us. I have photos of tenants who lived in our house in 1899. Looking at the trees in the picture it looks like Spring, and they still looked as if they were dressed for Winter.

This wandering round the house half naked is very recent. It never happened when I was a kid. Anyhow, get him some thermals for Christmas. You may be surprised, and he wears them. :D
