Knife making

Post by Stillsurviving »

Hi

One of my hobbies is knife making. I have made around 20 knives so far. All have been
Drop point bush craft knives. They have all been made with purchased blade blanks, but I am determined that my next knife will be 100% made by myself, so if anyone has experience of making their own blades I would be keen to hear of your experiences and any advice you can offer.

Most of my knives have been made using Damascus steel blades, along with some carbon and stainless examples.

I have some tool steel ready and am halfway through making my own small forge for hardening and then tempering the blades, but this where I would like to chat with someone with real time experience doing it.

Might be worth wandering over to British Blades, not my thing but they seem to have a healthy knife making community going on............... :D
