My first 3.5 weeks of prepping

Post by colb16 »

Ok, so this is what I've done so far in my short prepping life:

1. Stocked up my kitchen cupboards, fridge and freezer
2. Cleared out a big cupboard in the house and started to stockpile food and water. I've managed to get a decent stash together already. There's definitely enough food in the house to keep our family of 5 going for 2+ months and I am always adding to it. I'm rather pleased with myself about this. Sometimes I just go and look in the cupboard and a warm, fuzzy feeling comes over me
3: Also bought some seeds in Aldi at 19p a pack. Will prepare an area in the garden for my first attempt at growing some veggies - God knows how this will turn out but I'll give it a try. :?
4: purchased a camping stove & propane cylinders (thank you to Hamradioop for suggesting for this and to Yorkshire Andy for advising me to go for propane so that it can also be used in cold weather)
5: Bought some sleeping bags to add our camping kit. This was an essential purchase for a caravan holiday we took earlier in the month, not specifically for prepping but handy all the same.
6: Ordered items from amazon to make winter car kits for my car and husb's van.
7: Bought some torches and led lights
8: topped up the medicine/first aid supplies.
8: Made a fire plan and shared with the family. Going to have a drill one night after the kids go to bed. Have told them we'll be doing this so they're not scared
9: Making a get home plan for emergencies/shtf situations. We have 3 kids in different schools & nurseries across the town so I thought we needed a plan to make sure all the
kids get picked up if something bad was to happen and we couldn't communicate on our mobiles.
10: Used Google maps to plan a route using back roads and mainly avoiding the very busy dual carraigeway we normally use to get to our family/support network who are about 15 miles
away. Going to drive the route tomorrow.
11: Started a krav maga class. Only been to one class so far but it was fun.
12: Bought personal alarms for me and eldest child. Take it with me when I'm walking the dog at night.

Still lots and lots to do. I already feel it is becoming a way of life. Been reading and researching lots. I feel it has been a very positive change in my life.

Sounds good! I bet you'll start adjusting a few things once you think about it more, but it's comprehensive!

If you have done that in 3 1/2 weeks, what will you achieve in three months? Well done!
