Newcomer says hi

Post by Wasp »

Hi everybody,

Been doing some light prepping for years - keeping get home/stay alive stuff in the car, always having an emergency supply of food for a week in the cupboards - kind of thing.
Given the way the world and this country is going, I decided it was time to get a bit more serious and prep for longer term - digging in to survive several months or so of chaos.

Wondering if anyone here has planned to evac the country?
I have family in another country and would be good to run to meet up with them.
Wanting advice/chat on how to get across the continent as fast as possible, but as safely as possible. What would be the best way to go about it? I have a few ideas, but always good to get a sanity check. :tinfoil :)

Hi Wasp and welcome!

My family have been thinking about this and we've started by renewing our lapsed passposts!
We haven't really got any further than that, other than deciding we'd head to a relative in Spain.
We're definitely thinking in terms of not liking where this country is going (mainly the privatisation of everything)!

Hello and welcome, can you be sure you will be better off in that other country, you will become effectively a refugee in a foreign land. It would not be for me.

Firstly, to me it has to be when the decision is made to evacuate, reason being others might have the same idea. To me a boat would be the safest way of getting out, so owning one seaworthy enough to cross the Channel would be great, knowing someone or paying someone to take you over or your other family arranging for someone to come over for you but I'd keep away from the major ports, should imagine the quickest way to cross the Continent is by train.

This is a very good question.

Thanks for the welcomes everyone!

I'll start a new thread in Homes and Retreats (seems the logical place) to discuss the country moving further - seems there could be quite a good discussion here. :)
