I've been very slowly reducing the amount of food served at Chez Decaff so that smaller portions wouldn't be such a shock should that be required. No one has noticed this yet or complained they were still hungry so I don't feel so bad doing this.

This is one of the newer types
Hi Rik
You have described this as a newer type, can you explain where these in particular are available, and when the newer ones came along? Also, are the newer ones better? Thats probably quite important!
And, what brand is this? I have found some on evaG8, but are circa 2000 cals, and there is less sundries etc. The one you have detailed here looks great!
So, please please send links for these with details (websites, who makes them, self life, cost, anything and everything on these you have got!)

£22.49 seems a very expensive way of feeding oneself for a relatively short period , it would be much more cost effective to "build" packs of your own.

I found a bloke at Tonbridge market who had loads, he had crates of everything from thia green curry and rice to the packs of jammie dodger type biscuits! I still have some as the useby was very long.
The french ration pacs are great very clever, but the best ive had so far are the two bean pasta british rations, one I think is tuna and one mexican, but they are very expencive, last time I looked about £4 each on ebay!

The newer rat packs are designed for use in warmer climates, if I recall correctly. So the menu reflects food that tastes okay without warming it up and more drink additives for electrolytes etc. Some of the stuff on the older menus weren't great when hot let alone when cold.
I've bought these in ASDA.. as far as I'm concerned they are small and outrageously expensive. I would much rather buy bulk pastas, grains, rices and Mylar them, or stock up on some Pasta n Sauces rather than these.
