What Preps are you doing this week
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Ha! I like your thinking, but, sadly, it will in all likelihood be the teeniest amount and would get lost amongst all the other stuff. I have instead bought 12 cans baked beans, 8 cans chopped tomatoes, 6 cans salmon and received BCB Fishing Kit in mail (need to look into this a bit more - never fished in my life and against it as a sport). Looking forward to getting the garage cleared out this spring and putting up some Big Dug shelving (yet to be bought) - decided to put the cans into dark plastic storage boxes with moisture absorbing sachets (any better ideas to keep them from rusting and to disguise the contents from the prying eyes of anyone who happens to enter our garage?).

Just stocked up on fruit and veg. Fresh stuff from Morrosons local. Pretty cheap. Don't know if it was lower price because it was the end of the day or what. Gonna start dehydrating again with my delightfully cheap Westfalia dehydrator. Admittedly some of the fruit I am going to use as an ingredient in my home made infusions for fun and flavour, but some is gonna be stored up for if ever there is a need for a few extra calories.
Just FYI, my Chrome spell checker doesn't understand "Gonna" and wanted me to change the word to Gonad........ Erm, thank you Google, but I am quite happy with the word that I have typed....

I am tempted to mark them Mills & Boon - that, to me, would be more embarrassing.
A lovely photo of Barbara Cartland in a haze of pink would be the finishing touch. I can see people backing away ........

Just discovered the fantastic Plants for a Future website http://www.pfaf.org/ and am reading a lot as I am back on the herbal infusion bandwaggony thingy kinda fad. Learning can be fun if you are obsessive

time for the monthly "big shop" to top up all the supplies.

So you bought a BCB fishing kit. And you are against it as a sport?FEISTY wrote:Ha! I am a lifelong angler. It is a learned skill. VERY learned. The BCB kit is useless rubbish if you have NEVER fished. As I say, you need to know what you are doing. You will NOT be able to use your BCB kit for practice as it is a handline. That is ILLEGAL under Environment Agency regulations.
You snipe at it as a sport, yet you buy illegal equipment. Illegal, as the rules are there for fish WELFARE-yes, anglers are concerned about the wellbeing of their quarry-yet you are prepared to use it if hungry?
Please explain.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

I'm adding that to my signature.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Well as a complete beginner. Just stocked up a little more on pasta, rice, paracetamol. And done lots of researching on equipment to buy. I'm using under stairs for food store and was planning on building up a store this year then using and replacing next year so I am always keeping the use by date as far ahead as possible. Do you think I really need to repack food in containers and Mylar bags for this duration or should I be ok if I check regularly? Really want to get things right without too much mistakes and expense!!
