Check Ray Mears.
He has designed and Gransfors Bruk make, an all round axe. I have one, and love it.

I have both of these and love them.
Please note, I don't work for Ray Mears lol
Also, he recommends the Bahco Laplander, I have one, its a very nice bit of kit, although I haven't used it yet...

I have all three, not the cheapest options, but you wont look back once you take the plunge. The top two are works of art, and will make wonderful heirlooms as well as essential survival tools.

I'm pretty much hoping my chainsaw will be of use, plenty of fuel spares and chains..but if not then a bowsaw combined with a variety of axes will dobeer999 wrote:Obviously chain saw is not much use in a catastrophe scenario. I have an axe and a wood maul. Need a saw which i can use single handed and possibly one to be used by two people. Something that is going to last. I want to use it on felled trees. Have a wood burner so sorted on that front. Thanks Beer
