Re: Bunker coming up for sale
There are plenty of these ROC posts around the country, and they're not much more than a buried concrete container, I really wouldn't want to spend more than a day in one of them, and i'll bet in the event of a bomb drop you'd be knackered anyway, the filtration would be woefully out of date and i'l...

Re: Really pleased with myself - water preps
Depending on where they're stored it might be worth filling them and adding a few steri-tabs to keep it from going stagnant or getting algae growth. Are they the black containers or clear? Clear will let light through and over time will go green if nothing is added. Milton tabs are basically stronge...

Re: Spare/emergency cash carrier
Had one of these for ages now but I can only afford to put a fiver in mine  , also I would be scared to put a £20 in there in case it fell off the set of keys or came unscrewed, but I agree they are brill. Would it make sense to use some PTFE tape on the threads to stop them opening by acciden...

Well i found today that i'm definitely doing something right! Wife 'misplaced' her keys (men 'lose' things women 'misplace' things!) and after the initial panic and her saying 'but everything is on those keys!' it turned out they were in a hidden pocket in her bag  Still, when she found them i ...

Spare/emergency cash carrier
A small prep I did a few weeks ago that's already come in handy! A pack of five small waterproof aluminium containers from China via ebay, like these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Keyring-Tablets-Medicine-Container-Pill-Box-Aluminium-Key-Chain-Drug-Holder-/150701384541?hash=item231680a35d:g:ULwAAOxy...

I've seen a lot of people doing overland travels on cycles using the pull-behind sleds, the B.O.B and oxtail ones are good, and at one point a few years ago i made one to attach to the back of a cycle, used the angle aluminium from an old greenhouse, a few nuts/bolts/rivets, some old plywood and som...

Even though I abhor debt,I have a credit card, and use it only online, and ALWAYS pay it off.Indeed, when we use it we put the cash in an envelope ready to pay at the end of the month.I have had an issue in the past that the card company have had to stand. It does give you protection( over a £100 I be...

Another push towards cashless systems Credit and debit card surcharges to be banned http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40648641 Of course, this will not make anything cheaper, as the retailer still has to cover costs. I know a couple of people who have retail shops, and both have said they're think...

I too refuse to use the self serve tills, if the staff ever say anything to me about why i'm not using them my reply is usually along the lines of; "do you really think it's a good idea to encourage me to use a machine which will put you out of a job? i'll wait for a human thanks"
