Re: surviving the evacuation

I pottered off to get these freebies and Amazon said 'you bought this in 2014' - lol I remembered it quite well once I realised it was the guy with the leg in plaster, but I'm quickly re reading so I can move on to the others. I'm finding it a lot more chilling than the first time round. Him being s...

Re: Audiobooks or reading?

I like reading best (Kindle) - the advantages of Kindle for me are it's easy to hold as I have bad rheumatoid arthritis in my hands. Also I'm downsizing and love having a whole library on one gadget. Reference books/cookery books are still better in paper though. Audio is ok if the voice isn't irrit...

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 7.

This morning I successfully trimmed my own hair. I had planned on making an appointment with the hairdresser now shielding is over, but he's in town and my last couple of visits to town have put me off again, so I'll stay away and cut my own. This is a real issue for me. I usually get it done month...

Re: Something that slipped my mind - washing clothes

I use the original amber coloured Stardrops that Lil posted a pic of. A small amount in a bucket of hot water for general cleaning (sinks/floors/worktops - anything really). Washing soda crystals I put a handful over the plug hole in the sinks, followed by some boiled water from the kettle...suppose...

Re: Something that slipped my mind - washing clothes

I love Stardrops too - anyone new to it bear in mind it's very sudsy! Only use a tiny bit or you'll be rinsing for ever!

I've got my general cleaning stuff down to Stardrops and Zoflora, with occasional use of washing soda crystals (drains) and bleach. The old ones are the best eh!

Interesting, Grenfell, that you're illustrating your points with Orwells 1984....In the same vein can I throw in Orwells Animal Farm?

Re: Insect bites

For the bites - I use hydrocortisone 1% cream. I've tried skin so soft but not convinced. Another ploy is to take Vitamin B tablets - apparently the insects can smell it through your skin and don't like it. Anyone had Vit B and still got bitten?

Re: B12 injections

Result! Yes, am pleased. But it has given me pause just how quickly they deemed a medication non essential for the whole country. Also certain cancer treatments /tests that have been designated able to wait. I was also shocked that dentists closed so quickly. And the whole loo roll saga was somethi...
