A pretty amazing water filtration system

Post by nickdutch »

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but I am thinking in the mid term future, of saving up some money for one of their products. Either the water bottle or the jerry can.

Both per usage seem to be cheaper than a brita water filter, but the emphasis seems to be on sterility rather then chemicals.

Still their products look pretty pretty sexy, and for me to say that says something about them!

Yeah, they've just released a new product: The Cube.

Handier still at the price and it doesn't take up much room in the kit. This has already been discussed in another topic.

Great bits of kit, but, and it's a big but.... they have a short shelf life IIRC.

I still have 2 and some spare carbon filters though.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

You can get a sealed package, meaning they will last for 10 years in the pack (followed by 5 years out of the pack) but aparently will only last 2 years once you've started using them ... And you have to keep using them once you start.

Need to find out more about these myself, great bits of equipment though. Well worth the cost, I've got one (or two, three...) on my wish list.

Also once you strat using them, you have to keep them wet and cannot allow them to dry out IIRC.

I've never been sick drinking water that I've coarsely filtered through a fine weave silk sack, boiled for about 2 minutes over the fire and added a bit of charcoal to neutralise any foul smell when there had been one. Don't under stand a need for a gizmo that has to have spares
The only thing more valuable than the things you carry, is knowing how to make and maintain them.
